This is my last week at the beach before closing the house for the winter. It was very cold last night as a Canadian blast of cold air came through. The beach in winter, and it does feel like winter, is ghost like. People abandon it and return it to the wind, the birds and the sea. As the WWII watch towers now stand guard over the abandoned picnic tables, winter is coming on. All these images were shot using the Hipstamatic Oggl app. The coolest thing about Oggl is the ability to control exposure and then to choose the combination of Lens and Film after the shot is made. It was a bold blue sky day when I made all these images and I like to think in Black and white on those kind of days. Processing all the images here in Oggl I chose several Lens and Film combos to achieve the results.

Beach grass struggles to keep rooted in the shifting windblown sands. The ice lockers are locked and the refreshment stands are shuttered. The bath house benches are empty. Winter is here!

Revisting Images: Montager and Many APPS....

Today I had on my list to photo manage on the iPhone~ that means dump files! It was getting a little 'snaggy' when processing and scrolling, so I needed to clean out my CameraPlus and Hipstamatic files along with the camera roll..man it's hard to find images that you never sync'd or worked on and just transfer them. I found some close up shots I made one day on the way to the beach of this closed down burger restaurant...and jumped on processing them to see what I could do with a few "raw" for lack of a better word iPhone shots. I have also been working on my day long presentation at MAC Business solutions on January 20 and Jan 28 in Gaithersburg, MD. As a result of that I found a cool collage app called Montager. Its not a full res app, it saves files at 1800 x 1200. I wish they could get the res up by a few more pix. I am working all the slides for the presentation on either the iPad or iPhone...and this is a good one for text and images. I also wish they would allow for the grid lines to be color toned...I will have to send the developer my wish list!
In addition to talking about Montager, I wanted to share the raw "before" image with the "after" processed image. The apps available to create with are amazing so heres a few before and afters. Delaware Road trip and the Iphone

Left Baltimore around 1:30 and  took my time getting to the beach, stopping in a few spots to make a couple iPhone images. On the way down I was noticing what a difference a week makes. The Bradford Pear trees along the highway near Annapolis were aglow as the late afternoon sun filtered through them.
Cherry trees were blooming and the magnolias were in full bloom. As I drove into Bridgeville, I noticed a magnificent Magnolia in bloom, so I stopped, made a u turn and rode around the block then down a side street and came back to the place where I saw the tree. I also enjoyed the old farmhouse beside the tree, so I made a shot or two there.

 Prior to stopping in Bridgeville, I stopped at the Antique Store in AndersonTown; Carolina County, Md. and Rt. 404. They had a hand held stereopticon and lots of images to look at. I was intrigued by the old photos and spent some time there. I also made a shot of the store...well several and then stitched them together.

My last images before arriving at the beach and unpacking the car were made near Clayton, De. I loved the way the sun sinking in the western sky shone bright through the thickening clouds, illuminating the irrigating systems sitting in the barren fields. The red frame windows on an abandoned Ice cream store caught my eye and I had to turn around and make a shot or two there as well. I blended these shots together to get the final image below.
